First to Bob Hartman, if you're going on the KK line again: Bob, you were one of my great heroes! Teaching us wrestling skills, leading hikes, building the three-story tower with no nails or screws… I still think of you from time to time and certainly shall never forget you! Then to Bob... (more)

I just got back from a reception at the Rosenbach Museum and Library in Philadelphia at which I was able to spend a little time with Lew (Doc) Klein and Janet. In the course of our conversation he asked me if anyone still called me "Bobby." I responded with the question, "Does anyone still call... (more)

Hi Bob. According to the Final Knocker archive, you were a kounselor for five summers - 1948-1952. There are still a few copies of the Kamp Directory remaining. Send me email (steve@sjklein.com) if you'd like one.

Had lunch with Skinny Ennis the other day. He showed the Kewanee booklet to me and I was amazed. What a great book for all of you to have for great memories. Just wanted to add my congrats to it. I only worked as a consulor for two or three years. Also worked with Skinny and Fritz setting... (more)

Had an opportunistic lunch meeting with Jim Lieber today. I had not realized we had another KK author in our Pittsburgh midst....http://www.publishersweekly.com/978-1-56858-142-2, and http://www.publishersweekly.com/978-0-670-82075-7.

I think that "central" will still have to mean "central Philadelphia," since that's the city where the the great majority of ex-kampers reside. If you're not convinced, take a look at the terrific map of KK-alums that WFIL has made. It's at http://kampkewanee.org/reunionMap.html, and I think... (more)

Washington,DC would be sort of central to those coming from Western PA and Eastern PA. I realize Harrisburg would be cental and closer, but it's still Harrisburg . . .

Central would all depend where most of the Kampers are coming from and what kind of air service to the city. As Tiger said Des Moines is central but then you have to change planes in most cases to get there.

"More central" than what, Lee? I think of Nashville as "central." Or Des Moines. Seriously, anywhere is fine with me. Except for 2x annual trips abroad & an occasional USTA tournament road trip, I'm not traveling much outside of TN. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, Boxing Day,... (more)

Yes, Lee, lots of us have proposed a more central location for a 2015 reunion, and Nehru is already hunting for an easier-to-get-to hotel that would be equally suitable for such an event. Anyone else with ideas? Post them on the Knocker!

Remember swimming out to the pontoon, raft and making dives to the bottom of the lake. The deep diving stopped when I came face to face with a big fat nasty looking eel. Even after 58 years, I could positively ID him in any lineup anywhere !!

The Kate Smith version of God Bless America has been a great favorite of mine. Irving Berlin, the composer, wrote the song in the WWI Era and revived it and modified it in 1938 as Hitler began his rampages across Europe and was imposing Kristallnacht. Berlin worked very closely with Kate Smith.... (more)

OK,maybe I was wrong. Try http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEJo7x9y3D4 - or else go to YouTube.com and enter "God Bless America Kate Smith" and play any of the sites that mention 1938 or 1940 in the caption... BS
