Am still here. Retired from UT after being acad vp (wife Karen also retired from being French prof). Have not looked at KK Knocker for too long. Ready for reunion. Doing house chores, reading, playing LOTSA tennis (5 x per week) after getting knee & shoulder fixed. Believe Rutstein's fav beer was Schlager Lager.

KKW to all,
"Tiger"

Does anyone have an e-mail contact for Bob "Tiger" Levy? I believe he retired from the University of Tennessee and that email bounced.

Haven't been on the site for a long time. Steve Buch, thanks SO MUCH for the video. What a treat!! I remember you; I think I'm a year or two older than you. I was a kamper from 1956-62. Such great memories; I remember the names of kampers and kounsellers in the video better than people I met last week. Alas, I think that may be true for all of us.
I had drinks with Robert (BS) Cohen in NYC a few years ago. He's done amazing work in teaching theater and got started as a fluke at Kewanee.
I ended up working for 5 summers at a NYC Federation of Jewish Philanthropies Camp (Surprise Lake) while in college and am now on the Board there. All 3 of our children went to camps forever. My oldest, Rebecca, works year-round at Camp Tawonga (SF and Yosemite).
I went to Yale Medical School and practiced for 20 years but always wanted to be an artist and have been working full-time as one since then. I have shows in NYC, DC and Miami in the next year. See www.jerrymeyer.com or visit the Jerry Meyer Museum at www.openmuseum.org for more info and to see the Krazy illuminated sculptures I've been making. The smell of "plastic wood" sends me right back to The Lodge.

Phil Siegle and Paul Urken (both from Trenton) were my tentmates, but I never knew the connection with R.C. and with Mayer Abrahamson and I never knew how they ended up at Kewanee.

Last week was special. I heard from two fellow kampers on the same day; Chuck Half and my cousin Phil Siegle.

Chuck is living in Pittsburgh. We have been in touch on and off over the years. But I cannot remember the last time I heard from Phil. He lives today in Hillsborough, CA with his wife Joanna and twins Lizzie and Tommy.

Phil sent me a family tree he is putting together and there I found our Uncle Mike (Mayer Abrahamson) looming large. He, of course, was the reason we all went to spend summers in tents among the lonely pines.

Warmest personal rgds to all.

R.C.

I fell off a barstool at "Tommy (?) Lynns" right there on 6 & 11 one tequila-soaked night at age 18. Tripp Fleishmann, who was of age, made me drink - I didn't want to.

I'm thinking of contacting the Vatican and filing charges against Tripp. Is there a statute of limitations for corrupting a minor in Dalton, PA?

I remember being in Palumbos with Dave Benjamin. There was a band playing and we were under-aged. When the music stopped we asked them for "Blue Moon" and Al showed us the door. Another time I was with a group of kounselors on a Friday nite and one of them asked the bartender to put the clock up one hour from 11 to midnite. He did and many customers ordered big juicy hamburgers because Friday as Fish-only Day was over and you could get what you wanted.

I remember when I was a Kouselor, of course under age and a couple of the guys took me to a bar for beers. I got so "drunk" that when I got out of the car and tried walking away, I couldn't, my finger was still in the door and I didn't feel a thing.

In Fleetville, 2 nearby brews were memorable:
1.Rolling Rock. This beer was brewed in Latrobe PA and had a distinctive flavor. It was later sold to Anheiser-Busch in St. Louis. And recently Stella Artois of Belgium bought Anheiser-Busch.

Also there was "Make the 3 ring sign for Ballantine," which was brewed in faraway New Jersey.

Do you all realize that we were very much under age when we frequented the Fleetville Hotel? And I still have a phobic reaction when I see pickled eggs! Mike, Utica Club is brewed at the West End Brewery, down the road from Syracuse. They are thriving with Saranac, fifty years in the future of the Fleetville Hotel taps.

In answer to Hank's question: Stegmaier, Gibbons or Bartels served by Walt Ednock (Fleetville Hotel) or Peg(Dalton House). What was Palumbo's first name? Dave

Hi Everyone
Went out to dinner in Elenton, FL (just north of Sarasota)tonight and had a German pils which strangely reminded me of the local beer in Fleetville/Factoryville. Anyone remember the names of the local brands? Looking forward to the next reunion and seeing all of you.

Hi KKers! Lorna and I are going to Israel for the first time next week (visiting J'lem, Haifa, Akko, Tiberias) and wonder if those who've been there before have any special tips - special places to visit, dine, etc. Post or send to cohen@uci.edu b4 April 7.

We DC people remember Kit well.I have seen him at all or most of the reunions. He has a Wikipedia presence and is a champion backgammon as well as bridge player. He has written a number of books on these subjects. I never played bridge with him at Kamp, but I sure noticed his concentration and his focus on the game.

I remember Kit very well, in fact he started me playing bridge at Kamp. If you really remember him, you will remember that he walked somewhat bow-legged. I did speak with him about two years ago, at that time he has retired from the stock market business and considered himself a professional gambler.
