Need some help....Taking a trip to Maine in July, looking for several small towns to visit for two or three days each, would like to be in the lower half on the coast. Anyone out there have some suggestion.

Hooray. Kan't wait to see all of you again at this year's reunion. Went canoeing and tubing on the Delaware River this summer with our kids and grandkids. Sister river of the Susquehanna. Stayed right near Skinners rapids for any of you who know the river. Amazingly great fun. Did not try any gunneling!

Looking forward to the reunion! Can't wait to see all you OLD guys. It's only been 67 years since we first met most of you but the memories are still fresh.

My Father Richard (Dick) Leopold passed this thursday October 23rd 2014, quietly in his sleep, in his own bed as he wished.
He was born september 8th 1924 and enjoyed several years as a camper at Kiwanee. They were among the years years of his memory.
Thanks to all. Any photos would be appreciated.

The last time I visited camp site, it was exactly as it was left when Doc left it. Apparently several investors purchased the land and wanted to leave it the way it was. The pictures were still up in the Nature lodge. I am planning on another visit today if I can get permission from the owners. Anyone interested in meeting up here for a mini-reunion on site?

Hi KKers! I'd like you to know I've just published "Falling Into Theatre...and finding myself," a memoir of my youth through my mid-career, with three pages devoted to starting that career in the KK Lodge. It's an entertaining book throughout, I believe, and its available at low cost ($12.86) at Amazon.com and most other book sites.

re: Larry Glazer; sounds familiar to me, too, but no similar names in the KK directory.

Last week there was a fairly high-profile private pilot plane crash, with the pilot suffering from hypoxia and overflying Cuba until they ran out of gas. The pilot was Larry Glazer, of Rochester NY. Wasn't there a Larry Glazer that went to Kewanee? Anyone know if this is the same guy?

Steve (WFIL) thank you for the replies and the archive copies mentioning my father. I found him in the 1950 group photo. He's smack dab in the center with the 'K' on his shirt. He's the only one wearing a 'k'. Go figure, he must have missed (or ignored) the memo. Thanks to all who might remember my father fondly. I know very little of him from this part of his life. I hope he enjoyed being at camp among his peers and friends.

Blessings to all...

My father, David Herring (Johnstown, Pa) was a camper at Kewanee ages ago. As a child, I was offered the opportunity to camp there too. Unfortunately, I did not. What I am interested in is if ANYONE might have a photo of my father as a youth. Please contact me even if a 'Dad Story' exists and not a photograph. Also, I have a table that my father crafted during his stay at Kewanee. I am now crafting those same tables and selling them in my craft business. Does anyone else have furniture. I'd be happy to make Kewanee designed furniture for anyone if desired. thanks...

Subject: Kamp Kewanee Reunion Plans

===== ADVANCE NOTICE FROM CHIEF KEWANEE (More than a 5 minute Warning) =====

Many of you have asked: "WHEN IS THE NEXT KAMP KEWANEE REUNION?"

We now have the answer. We have booked the Joseph Ambler Inn near Philadelphia for the late morning and afternoon of Saturday, September 19, 2015 for the event. (Their website address is www.JosephAmblerInn.com.)

Please note that the date is in 2015 - not 2014. We realize that we are sending this announcement somewhat early, but we wanted you to know as soon as we made the booking.

As you see, our main event will be at lunch on that day. Our group, although very lively and vibrant, will be four years older than the date we last convened. We will set up the day so that you will have plenty of time before and after the luncheon to renew your KK friendships and re-tell KK stories (which get better in the telling at each reunion). There will also be rooms which you can reserve at the Inn for Friday and Saturday nights. We will provide details in plenty of time. Also, you will note that we have chosen the weekend between the Jewish Holidays - we did so with the blessing and imprimatur of Rabbi "Moose" Adland.

We met last in September, 2011. We were gratified by the many warm, positive and touching responses from so many of you after that event. Paradoxically, as we age (and as the number of years since Kamp grows), for many of us, the friendships we made there and the memories created there have become stronger and more important.

Many details will follow. In the meantime, we hope you will save the date (Saturday, September 19, 2015) and send us your ideas to make this Reunion the best one ever. You may contact any member of the reunion kommittee by email at the addresses listed below, or post your thoughts on the Message Board of the Kamp Kewanee website at www.KampKewanee.org. Of course, if you have other ideas about continuing the spirit of Kewanee please post those as well.

KEE KEE WAH!

Thanks to Dave Rutstein for suggesting the "New Yorker" piece. In a recent "Sports Illustrated" there's a nice article about Roger Angell. KKW
