Sounds like a great time is planned for the reunion! Sorry that I can't be there--between building our new home in Florida, ready at the end of October (and selling this one) as well as other commitments I won't be able to come. However, as I stated in the previous e mail, I have found the box of letters that I sent home from camp--I think my mother saved them all--and looked at a couple at random. (When we get settled I will plan to look through the entire box!) I have attached one that I "translated" and the original. I think this may be a good conversation starter since I think that most campers took the overnight trip to the Nicholson Bridge during their time at Kewanee. You have my permission to use as appropriate! And my best wishes to the group--have a super reunion!

Very sorry to hear about Joel...good guy. At one of the earlier reunions, I brought up with Joel remembering how his dark/light salad bowl came apart on the lathe in shop, and how he got a new one done before the summer was over. Funny how we remember this trivia from so long ago.

As of today we have 86 reservations for the reunion. If you haven't sent your reservation form to Nehru yet, don't delay. Less than three weeks to go.

Hey, BS Cohen & Steve Busch, check out:

http://www.nicholsonheritage.org/tunkhannock-creek-viaduct/

In a few frames, you can see the metal handholds we used.

As Kampers, we lived in a simpler age. Today, nobody gets near what we did--even with helmets, kneepads, & lawyers' waivers. Think canoe-trip-with-no-Mae-Wests.

KKW,

Hi
Unfortunatly' I will be outoftown on business on the19th, even though the
Joseph Ambler Inn is only a few minutes from my home.
I highly recommend the Inn dining there numerous times a year and even spending several overnight getaway weekends there.
Be sure to say hello to Shadow, the 14 year old Inn cat. A real sweetheart.
As for me, I have been a ful time Antiques Dealer for the past 25 years, following an early career as a stockbroker, and later in the retail/wholesale cigar business (Holt Cigar Co - Ashton Cigars -in Phila)
Three children, two in LA, one in Phila, and two wonderful grandchildren in LA from my first marriage. Second anniversary of my second marriage coming up in Oct. (after being together for15 years prior to our marriage.
Sorry to iss the reunion.
All the best to all you Kampers
Chuck
PS. My brother dick says to say hello

Recognize the picture?! Absolutely, Steve: it is the Nicholson Bridge (officially known as the Tunkhannock Viaduct) and I took my daughter there to see it when we visited the KK ruins fifteen years ago. I am in fact overwhelmed by the Viaduct, which was built for the Lackawanna train line, but according to a plaque attached to its structure is modeled after the Pont du Gard, an Aqueduct in the French Provence, which was built by the Romans two thousand years ago to bring mountain water to the city of Nimes. I've visited the Pont du Gard at least five times, once canoeing under it (on the Gardon River) but enough times that Lorna has refused to go to it again! It is a beautiful structure, now unfortunately turned into fenced-in tourist attraction, but it remains my absolute symbol of Kewanee in Europe.

I just saw this online. Does anyone recognize the picture in number 31? I can't believe we actually climbed on that! http://www.pennlive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2015/07/pennsylvania_bucket_list.html#0

Thanks, WFIL--I'd love to see who is coming.

Was in DC last weekend visiting daughter Leslie-Anne at her new house in Falls Church. Then drove to Kleveland OH to see wife Karen's relatives Dunno why, but surrounded by Poles (Karen's maiden name is Dydo, but her family has Stefaneks, Visockis, etc--all came to Cleveland 10 years ago to work in steel mills), I got to thinking about Adam Hynowski, the waterfront kounselor. Anybody remember anything about him (anything positive)?

KKW.

As you probably know already if you are following the KK message board, Mike and Andee Lowenstein organized a Kewanee Day at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on June 13.

Here are some pictures of the post-game gathering. Click on the pictures for a larger view. Thanks to Moose Adland for sending in the pix.
