Thanks, Steve. I am now a winter resident of Philly, returning to New Hampshire in a week. I don't watch much of the local news but check Philly.com fairly regularly. I ran in to Doc a couple of weeks ago; modest as usual about his well deserved recognition.
Bob, they did interview Doc on at least one of the Philly TV stations. And speaking of Doc, this story appeared in today's Philladephia Inquirer: http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20120423_After_a_life_in_TV__Lew_Klein_donates_his_papers_to_Temple.html
With the death of Dick Clark I hope they mention Doc's role in Dick Clark's career. Dickie Klein once took me to Bandstand during the Bob Horn era. But that's another story.
Took one of my sons, Gabriel to Boston to hear the BSO with Stuart Fuld. At dinner the two of them, dyed in the wool music afficianatos talked dizzying fine points of the conducting styles of Ozawa vs Levine....etc..etc. For once in my life I just sat back and listened. What fun.

Here's a link to
the news story about my Dad's donation of his personal archives to Temple University.(Thanks for finding it for us, Mike.)
Great bit DOC. Comcast in 2008 did a bit on Bandstand it was 6 inserts on the Seeking Solutions with Suzanne. Doc was on 3 of them. I will try to post them on the KK page with a little Help from WFIL. or someone. PS If you missed the 2011 Kamp Reunion it will be on DVD soon at a cost... (more)
Great story on Doc! KKers of that era may also remember that Doc donated a truckload of WFIL-TV's discarded scenery to the Lodge for Kewanee stage productions - which Mike Corson and I (among many others) used for decades!
Mike, thanks so much for sharing Doc's feature. Doc would be too modest to do so. It's inspirational. Dave
Nice feature on Doc Klein on Phila. channel 6 a couple of nights ago. You can watch it here:

I see that Mitt Romney is campaigning in Tunkhannock. When Rick Santorum gets to Fleetville, will someone let me know?
Happy Passover everyone.
Just now looking. Very sorry to hear about Jim Samter--remember him quite well as an outstanding athlete & exemplary human being. Peter Pan & I are remaining young & healthy whilst those about us . . . .

Read Bob Shoenberg's Who's Who of Notable Kewaneeans. Send additions/edits to Bob at rshoenberg@verizon.net.
Kamper David Guggenheim was featured on 60 Minutes tonight. He's a marine biologist who traveled to a remote and pristine coral reef in Cuba. He discussed the worldwide destruction of reefs with Anderson Cooper.
The Celebration of the Life of Dickie Klein was as it should have been: warm, nostalgic, sad, funny. Hosted by Lew (Doc) and Janet, with lots of Kewaneeans in attendance, spanning many years. Steve Moses did a masterful job in eliciting memories, stories, and bits of our lives that were touched.... (more)
I was VERY SAD to hear of Dickie Klein's passing--we were tent-mates back in the late "forties" with Doc as our counselor. I will miss thinking of Dickie and that wonderful Summer. My most sincere condolences to Doc and the whole family.Norman Schultz..1943 thru 1949
I hope that all kampers & kounselors--and, especially, the Klein family, have a happy, healthy, & hearty Thanksgiving.
