Steve--
As I remember from visit to KK 5 years ago with Fred Levy, it's Avoca INTERNATIONAL Airport!
Driving through Kewanee area on the way to and from Ithaca this past weekend sure brought back some memories. The only two recognizable landmarks were the Avoca airport and the big bridge at the end of the turnpike. But those names at the exits....Fleetville, Factoryville, Nicholson. Wow! I wish I would have had the time to explore.

PS - You are welcome to come to the Reunion on September 10th. If you are interested, drop me an email and I'll put you on the mailing list. Registration forms are going to be mailed out in the next few weeks.
Hi Kampers,
My name is Tom Schneider I live at Kamp Kewanee in the house at the entrance of the Kamp. In my hiking I found a canteen, it is aluminum with the name D. ERLANGER on it. Give me a shout out if you know him.
All the BEST,
Tom
P.S my email is cedarglass@aol.com
Lorna and I saw KKer Jerry Meyer's great art show at a top gallery in Chelsea (NYC) last week. It runs through May; details and reviews are here, here, and here.
In case anyone is interested my dad was a counselor at Kamp Kewanee in ~ 1942 (he thinks). He was in high school at that time. His name his Bob Landis and he was from Wilkes-Barre. He told me he got the the job because he could swim and play baseball and those skills were needed to teach the campers. He must have fond memories of it because he usually doesn't relay things about his past like that.
I am leaving Indianapolis in June to move to Canton, OH to become the rabbi at Temple Israel of Canton. (I guess that also makes me the chief rabbi of the pro football hall of fame and will take responsibility for all the Jewish inductees into the hall. Don't know if I have the time to do that job too.) Anyways, looking at WFIL's map I don't see any other Kewaneans in Ohio. Let me know if you are there.Happy Pesach to everyone.

Robert S Cohen, who distinguished himself from Robert M Cohen, by becoming Bobby S (and Bobby M), and morphed into BS (and BM), has distinguished himself as a world renowned, drama teacher, director producer and author. He has been recognized by his institution (University of California, Irvine). KTG takes pride!

Here are some kamp pictures from Steve Buch. He writes:"In the Tent 1 1957 pictures are myself, Jimmy Caplan and Larry Bressler. (Joe Ludgate was our Kounselor.) In the Tent 4 1958 picture are myself, Tommy Wilner, Billy Rackoff and Bob Sprafkin."
Jim, you can reach kamp (I made it there ten years ago - quite an experience!) by taking La Plume Road east off of US 6/US 11, north of Scranton, then taking a left on Stanton Rd. Pass Davison Rd. on your right and the next driveway on the right (just after the left bend) will be kk. They're all paved now. Go to mapquest.com and enter "Lake Manataka, Pa." and you'll get a map; zoom in or out as you wish. Watch out for the Apache relay, though. And Sandy, how did you find your way out without mapquest? (I think the person who accompanied Roy was Bobby Seigel, by the way.)

Jim the only thing that I could remember would be how to get out of the Kamp. There are not too many kampers who know that I ran away the first day that I was there in 1955. Got all the way to the airport, where after talking to my Dad, Roy David and someone else came to get me and take me back. I guess I learned to like it there for I spend many a summer after than, enjoying everything about KK
Can anyone provide directions to get to the Kamp?
I am hoping to try to visit whatever is left of the Kampsite.
Thanks
Thanks for including me in the mailing of the Kamp directory.
It was a lot of fun going thru it, trying to remember the people I knew, and the people who I just had heard stories about.
The directory is super & we all owe WFIL lotsa thanks. (I've been quietly whistling some old Dick Griswold ditties the last few days) I even found, via the geographical set-up, that a guy at my tennis club was a kamper (albeit after my time as a kounselor). Amazing! KKW.
WFIL, Let me add my voice to the others in thanking you for the outstanding work on the directory. I keep going through again and again.

Thanks, guys. Glad you're enjoying the Directory. Had a great time putting it together.
WFIL, The amazing kamp directory arrived in today's mail (an extra day or two to get to LA). Thanks for all this work and for keeping so many great memories alive for us all. Would love to be there in September.
WFIL, you outdid yourself with this directory, it is terrific. The pictures of Puggy, Harry's Tonsorial Parlor, and the immaculate tents prior to inspection were a real jolt of nostalgia. Looking up old friends. What's not to like? The only thing I couldn't find was Khief Kewanee (or was it King Neptune) uttering his famous: "kischmirn...". See you'all in September. Alex
WOW!! I didn't know what everybody was raving about until I opened yesterday's mail. KKW WFIL!!! See you all on September 10th.
Wanted to add my compliment to Steve for producing the directory. Brings back some good memories.
